Local Energy Consultant
Coordinate and support energy efficiency programme delivery with Indonesian and Danish partners under INDODEPP.
Would you like to work with the green energy transition and energy efficiency in Indonesia? Sirkularium is hiring a full-time Local Energy Consultant based in Jakarta to support INDODEPP's work on energy efficiency in industry and buildings, starting August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. You will be employed by PT Sirkularium Strategic Solution as a Full-Time Project Associate and work day to day under the technical direction of the INDODEPP team. We are looking for a self-starter with international experience and a proven ability to engage government stakeholders.
About the programme
INDODEPP is a government-to-government cooperation on energy, initiated in 2020 to support the Indonesian government in reaching its targets on energy and climate change. It covers four areas: scenario-based long-term planning and regulation, integration of renewable energy, energy efficiency in national strategies, and low-carbon development in the provinces.
The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) in Copenhagen and the Royal Danish Embassy in Jakarta manage the programme. Key Indonesian partners include the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), the Ministry of Industry, BPSDM Jakarta and PPSDM KEBTKE.
Your role
You will assist the DEA in its ongoing activities and in programme development on energy efficiency in buildings and industry (Outcome 3). This includes facilitating partnership engagements and close day-to-day coordination between the DEA, EBTKE and relevant Indonesian institutions, local authorities, organisations and stakeholders.
You will contribute technical analysis and local insight on energy conservation in buildings and industry, support the dissemination of results and recommendations on regulation, and assist with a broader set of administrative tasks on an ad hoc basis. Technical knowledge or prior work experience from the energy sector is required.
The specific portfolio of tasks will be agreed with the two project leads at DEA, who are your main reference point during the engagement.
What you will do
- Facilitate day-to-day coordination with the project leads at DEA and between key Indonesian partners, supporting the development and progress of energy efficiency programme activities
- Support programme administration on an ad hoc basis: managing deliverables, developing and updating material, budget planning, presentations and speaking notes
- Take part in high-level meetings, site visits and workshops in Indonesia, providing logistical and linguistic support (venues, catering, translation, invitations, minutes, documentation)
- Provide stakeholder mapping and engagement advisory for the formulation and implementation of energy efficiency activities, as part of annual programme reporting and evaluations
- Maintain close coordination with companies, local authorities, universities, industrial clusters, local consultants and business associations
- Monitor political, policy and legislative developments affecting energy efficiency in Indonesia
- Provide technical input to reports and review technical documents on Indonesia's energy sector and energy efficiency in buildings and industry
Experience and qualifications
- A Master's degree in engineering, international relations, political science, business or investment administration, economics or another relevant field (alternatively a Bachelor's degree with additional relevant work experience)
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in Indonesia's energy sector, preferably in renewables, energy efficiency and the green transition; experience from both private companies and government institutions is an advantage
- Previous project coordination experience and technical knowledge in energy efficiency
- Good political intuition; experience working in or with government bodies or other politically led institutions is preferred
- Knowledge of Danish strongholds in green technologies is an advantage, but not a requirement
- Proactive and innovative, able to grow and maintain a network in the energy sector, with strong analytical skills
- Able to work independently and in teams, and to travel domestically and internationally
- Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English, both written and spoken
