A role at the center of Indonesia's energy efficiency push

Sirkularium is opening a full-time position for a Local Energy Consultant, based in Jakarta, to support the Indonesia-Denmark Energy Partnership Programme, known as INDODEPP, on its energy efficiency work in industry and buildings. The consultant will be employed by PT Sirkularium Strategic Solution as a full-time Project Associate and will work day to day under the technical direction of the INDODEPP team, with a target start date of August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The opening reflects Sirkularium's growing role in delivering government-to-government technical assistance in the energy sector, alongside its established advisory work across solid waste, water, and energy. It is also a direct answer to a practical need: programmes like INDODEPP depend on local specialists who can translate international technical cooperation into day-to-day coordination with Indonesian institutions.

What INDODEPP is

INDODEPP is a government-to-government cooperation on energy, initiated in 2020 to support Indonesia in reaching its energy and climate targets. It spans four areas: scenario-based long-term energy planning and regulation, integration of renewable energy, energy efficiency in national strategies, and low-carbon development in the provinces. The programme is managed by the Danish Energy Agency in Copenhagen together with the Royal Danish Embassy in Jakarta, working alongside Indonesian partners including the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, known as EBTKE, the Ministry of Industry, BPSDM Jakarta, and PPSDM KEBTKE.

Sirkularium is hiring a Local Energy Consultant to coordinate and support energy efficiency programme delivery with Indonesian and Danish partners under INDODEPP.

What the consultant will do

The role sits inside INDODEPP's Outcome 3, which focuses on energy efficiency in buildings and industry. The consultant will facilitate day-to-day coordination between the Danish Energy Agency, EBTKE, and relevant Indonesian institutions, local authorities, and stakeholders. Responsibilities include contributing technical analysis and local insight on energy conservation, supporting the dissemination of results and regulatory recommendations, taking part in high-level meetings, site visits, and workshops across Indonesia, and providing stakeholder mapping and engagement advisory as part of annual programme reporting. The consultant will also monitor policy and legislative developments affecting energy efficiency in Indonesia and review technical documents on the sector.

Who Sirkularium is looking for

Sirkularium is looking for a self-starter with international exposure and a demonstrated ability to engage government stakeholders. The role calls for a master's degree in engineering, international relations, political science, business or investment administration, economics, or a related field, though a bachelor's degree paired with additional relevant experience is also considered. Candidates should bring at least five years of work experience in Indonesia's energy sector, ideally spanning renewables, energy efficiency, and the green transition, across both private companies and government institutions. Prior project coordination experience, good political intuition, and fluency in both Bahasa Indonesia and English are required. Familiarity with Danish strengths in green technology is a plus but not a prerequisite.

The position is a full-time, fixed-term local contract with a competitive monthly salary, BPJS employment and health coverage, THR, end-of-contract compensation, paid annual and sick leave, and the possibility of travel within Indonesia and to Denmark to work alongside Danish energy specialists.

Sirkularium's view

This vacancy is a concrete, near-term entry point for a specialist who wants to work at the intersection of Indonesian industrial policy and international technical cooperation. For government and institutional partners, it signals continuity: INDODEPP's energy efficiency workstream will have dedicated local capacity coordinating implementation on the ground, which supports steadier delivery of the studies, engagements, and recommendations the programme produces. Interested candidates can review the full role description and apply through the vacancy page linked above.
